Hi, I'm Laura — founder of Compass & Fable Travel and a luxury travel advisor based in Mckinney, Texas, just outside Dallas-Fort Worth.
I've always believed the most enduring stories aren't found on a screen — they're in the grit of a mountain trail, the salt of a morning tide, and the shared exhale of a family finally out of range of the noise. That belief is what inspired me to build this company.
With more than a decade of experience in travel, I help families, couples, and multigenerational travelers plan seamless, story-rich vacations around the world. My career began in the structured magic of Disney destinations, but my own family eventually started trading scheduled parades for national park trails, river cruises, cultural immersion, and wildlife encounters in places that reminded us how big — and how restorable — the world really is.
Today I specialize in luxury travel, adventure trips, river cruises, sustainable travel, and custom group itineraries. I design experiences for travelers who want more than a generic package — people who want their trips to reflect their values, their pace, and their sense of wonder. I work as a boutique buffer behind the scenes, handling every logistical detail so you can simply show up and be present.
I'm a Certified Adventure Travel Expert, Certified Hawaii Travel Specialist, TAUCK-trained advisor, and Disney College of Knowledge graduate. My planning services are completely free to you as the client.
If you're looking for a travel advisor in the Princeton, McKinney, or Dallas-Fort Worth area — or anywhere in Texas — I'd love to help you plan something unforgettable.
Why I Love to plan travel.
Travel changed our family. It helped us grow, connect, and understand a world that's so much bigger and more beautiful than our daily routines let us see. I do this work because I want that for my clients too — that "wow" moment that stops you mid-step and reminds you why you're alive.
My travel philosophy was shaped on a beach in Roatan, Honduras. We'd booked what was supposed to be a 6-hour mangrove tour. Ten hours later, we'd stopped at our guide's aunt's restaurant, his favorite convenience store, and a handful of other spots that weren't on any itinerary. My schedule-driven brain resisted at first. But somewhere along the way I realized: this man was joyfully sharing his entire life with us. His culture, his people, the things that made his world worth living in. That's not a detour. That's the whole point.
Travel should be experienced, not rushed. And as your advisor, I plan with that in mind — building in space for the unexpected, the unscheduled, the moments that become the stories you tell for years.
My North Star: Start with what you actually want out of the trip — rest, adventure, culture, connection — then build everything else from there. Budget, pace, itinerary. All of it follows from knowing your "why."
Hidden Gem: Eat with locals. Food is a gateway to a people's soul — it tells the story of the land, the culture, the history. There is nothing more magical than a meal that wasn't on TripAdvisor.
