Hi, I’m Laura. I’ve always believed the most enduring stories aren’t found on a screen, but in the grit of a mountain trail, the salt of a morning tide, and the shared exhale of a family finally out of range of the noise. That belief is what inspired me to create Compass and Fable Travel, a travel business rooted in meaningful experiences, custom trip design, and the kind of adventures that stay with you long after you return home.

With more than a decade of experience in the travel industry, I work as a travel advisor helping families, couples, and multigenerational travelers plan seamless, story-rich vacations around the world. While my career began in the structured magic of Disney destinations, my own family eventually found ourselves craving something wilder and more expansive. We started trading scheduled parades for scenic drives, national park trails, cultural immersion, and unforgettable moments in the natural world. From the U.S. National Parks to South America, Europe, and the Caribbean, I discovered that the most transformative travel experiences often begin when you step a little off the expected path.

Today, I specialize in adventure travel, luxury experiences, group travel, and thoughtfully planned custom itineraries. I design trips for travelers who want more than a generic vacation package—people who want travel to reflect their values, their pace, and their sense of wonder. As the founder of Compass and Fable Travel, I also care deeply about sustainability, ethical tourism, and authentic connection. I’m drawn to quiet forests, untamed coastlines, wildlife, and destinations that remind us how restorative nature can be. I work hard behind the scenes to serve as a boutique buffer for my clients—handling the logistics, fine details, and travel planning stress so they can simply be present for the moments that matter most.

If you’re looking for a travel advisor in Princeton, Texas who can help you plan a custom family vacation, guided adventure, river cruise, or nature-focused journey, I’d love to help. Whether you want the structure of a professionally guided itinerary or the freedom of an independent adventure, I’m here to create a seamless path forward.

Travel has been such an integral part of our family. It has helped us grow, connect and understand the world outside of our immediate scope. It is fulfilling to help share that joy with my clients to help them see the world and experience the wonder and magic of food, culture and experience around the world. I do it for that “wow” moment that takes your breath away.

A moment that changed my travel perspective:
My travel perspective changed on a trip to Roatan. In West Bay it is very common to purchase tours from people on the beach. We purchased a tour to see the Mangroves. It was supposed to be a 6 hour tour. It turned into about 10 hours. I will admit, I found myself a little bit aggravated that we weren’t operating according to schedule. We made stops at the tour guides aunts resturaunt, his favorite convenience store to get snacks, and a number of other stops a long the way. This driver was joyfully sharing his culture, his life and the things that made his life fulfilling, with me, with our travel party. It took me a bit to sit back and revel in the magic of that. My scheduled, routine brain had to slow down and understand the magic of the island we were exploring. And I am grateful for it! Travel should be experienced, not rushed or overscheduled.

"North Star" Philosophy: The one rule I always follow when planning a trip.

Plan what you want to get out of the vacation. Do you want to relax? See everything you can? Then narrow it down. What are you actually capable of? Create realistic expectations from those questions.

Hidden Gem Recommendation:

Eat with locals! Yes, you get great food but food is a gateway to people’s souls. Food tells stories of culture, of the land, of the people—and there is nothing more magical than that.

Why I Love to plan travel.
